LayerZero Moves to Acquire Stargate Tokens
The LayerZero Foundation has unveiled a proposal to acquire $110 million worth of Stargate (STG) tokens in a strategic move to strengthen its ecosystem. The plan would allow STG holders to swap their tokens for LayerZero’s native ZRO token at a fixed rate of 1 STG = 0.08634 ZRO.
This acquisition is aimed at integrating Stargate’s cross-chain bridge protocol more deeply into the LayerZero network, potentially enhancing interoperability and liquidity across multiple blockchain ecosystems.
Strengthening the LayerZero Ecosystem
LayerZero’s cross-chain messaging protocol is designed to connect multiple blockchains seamlessly. Stargate, which already operates as a liquidity bridge within the LayerZero infrastructure, plays a vital role in enabling secure and efficient asset transfers.
By consolidating STG into ZRO, the LayerZero Foundation hopes to streamline governance, align incentives, and accelerate development efforts that could benefit both protocols.
