Mercado Bitcoin’s Big Move
Mercado Bitcoin, one of Latin America’s largest crypto platforms, is taking a major step by tokenizing $200 million in real-world assets (RWAs) on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). These assets include fixed-income and equity instruments, giving investors new ways to engage with regulated digital assets.
Expanding Global Access
This initiative is designed to extend access to tokenized financial products across South America and Europe. It’s one of the largest tokenization moves in Latin America to date. With the RWA tokenization market expected to grow significantly in the next decade, Mercado Bitcoin is positioning itself as a leader in the space. It already ranks among the world’s top five private-credit asset issuers on-chain, with more than R$1 billion tokenized and no defaults reported.
Why XRP Ledger?
XRPL offers speed, low fees, and robust security, making it ideal for large-scale asset tokenization. The ledger has processed over 3.3 billion transactions and is supported by a global validator network. Its compliance-focused structure is especially appealing for institutions looking for a trustworthy blockchain infrastructure.
A Boost for the XRP Ecosystem
By bringing $200 million in RWAs to XRPL, Mercado Bitcoin will more than double the current RWA volume on the network. This move strengthens XRPL’s position in the blockchain ecosystem and could increase institutional interest in the platform.
