- Lotte enters Web3 space through Aptos blockchain.
Daehong Communications, the advertising and digital unit of South Korea’s retail giant Lotte Group, has officially stepped into the blockchain space. The company has chosen the Aptos blockchain to launch its “money movement” ecosystem, with a strong focus on digital transformation and consumer engagement.
The initiative’s first step is integrating Giftiel, a popular mobile voucher service operated by Daehong, into the Aptos blockchain. This move allows for secure, transparent, and efficient digital voucher transactions, powered by the speed and scalability of Aptos.
Why Aptos and Why Now?
Aptos is a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain known for its fast transaction speeds and low fees—features essential for real-world consumer applications like Giftiel. By leveraging Aptos, Lotte aims to create a reliable and scalable blockchain infrastructure that supports millions of users and transactions seamlessly.
This partnership also signals Lotte Group’s intention to expand its presence in the Web3 space, making Daehong one of the first major South Korean corporate players to actively integrate blockchain in everyday retail tools.
What’s Next for the Ecosystem?
While the Giftiel integration marks the beginning, Daehong has larger ambitions. The “money movement” ecosystem is expected to grow beyond vouchers into various customer loyalty, promotional, and even financial applications.
This could include interoperable digital assets, blockchain-based coupons, and cross-platform rewards systems. With Lotte’s vast retail network, the real-world utility of this blockchain ecosystem could be significant and far-reaching in South Korea.
