YZi Labs Eyes Public Access Amid Investor Interest
YZi Labs, the $10 billion investment firm founded by Binance’s Changpeng Zhao (CZ), is reportedly considering opening to external investors and potentially transitioning into a public investment fund, according to the Financial Times.
Ella Zhang, head of YZi Labs, revealed that the idea is still in its early stages, but interest from investors has been strong. The move would mark a significant shift for the firm, which currently operates privately, managing a large portion of CZ’s personal wealth in both digital and traditional assets.
Heavy Crypto Focus and High-Profile Attention
Roughly 70% of YZi’s portfolio is held in digital assets, showing a strong conviction in the long-term growth of crypto markets. Zhang shared that during the summer, over 50 teams submitted proposals to YZi Labs for token accumulation, demonstrating how in-demand the firm’s capital has become within the crypto ecosystem.
Adding to the spotlight, SEC Chairman Paul Atkins reportedly requested a private demo of YZi’s offerings, after missing the firm’s presentation during a New York Stock Exchange event. This high-level regulatory interest underscores YZi’s growing relevance in both crypto and traditional finance circles.
A New Model for Crypto Wealth Management?
If YZi Labs does open to the public or become a regulated investment fund, it could serve as a new hybrid model for crypto-native firms looking to merge Web3 strategies with institutional credibility. It would also provide retail and institutional investors with access to a fund actively managed by one of the most influential figures in crypto—CZ himself.
As regulatory clarity increases and digital assets become more integrated into global finance, YZi Labs’ potential evolution could set a precedent for future crypto-backed funds.
