- XRP leads with almost 10 active ETF filings.
- Solana, Litecoin, and Dogecoin follow in ETF interest.
- Approval timelines remain uncertain amid SEC scrutiny.
XRP ETF Filings Surge Ahead of Competitors
XRP is making headlines again—not for a legal battle this time, but for taking the lead in the race for a U.S. spot altcoin ETF. According to recent data from Kaiko Research, XRP now has nearly 10 ETF applications under review by the SEC, placing it at the front of the altcoin pack.
This development positions XRP as the frontrunner in what could be a historic moment for crypto investment products in the United States. While Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs have already gained traction, XRP is now the top altcoin pushing for regulatory approval.
Solana, Litecoin, and Dogecoin Also in the Race
Right behind XRP are other major altcoins, including Solana (SOL), Litecoin (LTC), and Dogecoin (DOGE). Each of these cryptocurrencies has at least one or more ETF filings currently being tracked by Kaiko via SEC disclosures.
Solana, often touted as an Ethereum competitor, has seen growing institutional interest, making it a logical ETF candidate. Meanwhile, Litecoin and Dogecoin—two of the older players in the space—are also gaining attention from fund managers eager to offer diversified crypto exposure.
Despite the activity, the SEC has yet to approve any spot ETFs for these altcoins, keeping the market in suspense.
What Happens Next?
While XRP leads in the number of applications, quantity doesn’t guarantee speed. The SEC’s decision-making process is notoriously slow and conservative when it comes to crypto. Legal clarity, market maturity, and investor protection are all factors influencing approval timelines.
Still, the surge in ETF filings reflects growing institutional demand for regulated altcoin exposure. If approved, these ETFs could open the door for a broader wave of crypto investment vehicles beyond just Bitcoin and Ethereum.
